Elizabeth Charnock

ARTIST’S PROFILE

Elizabeth Charnock (b. 1990) is a British artist based in Berlin. She works primarily in drawing and sculpture. Her ink drawings on paper are architectural and precise, informed by her interest in urban planning ideologies and spatial relationships. She creates fictional, scaled-down environments, capturing moments “in-between” – snapshots of tranquility before or after human activity. Her work explores ideas of isolation, longing, familiarity and distance. In 2015 she received an academic scholarship from DAAD to study a postgraduate degree in Fine Art in Dresden and has since exhibited in Germany, Poland, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Read about Elizabeth’s residency project in her own words…

“My project explores place and its influence on us, capturing relationships, atmospheres, and histories through photography, drawing and memory. At the residency, I will immerse myself in the landscape, creating ink drawings that reflect my experience. My work focuses on moments between activity and tranquility, inviting viewers to form their own narratives. Through this process, I aim to capture the essence of the site and invite reflection on our sense of place.”
