Jessica Candradi

 ARTIST’S PROFILE

Jessica Candradi is a self-taught photographer originally from Surabaya, Indonesia, and a former pastry chef. Her journey into photography began in 2012 while studying pastry and culinary arts in Melbourne, where she bought her first camera and quickly fell in love with the visual language of storytelling.

Drawn to the evocative power of imagery, Jessica made the leap into photography full-time and has since become known for her cinematic, raw, and nostalgic style. Her work often centers on overlooked moments – romanticising the quiet poetry of mundane life.

Her compositions echo the aesthetics of film stills and memory fragments, with a focus on shadowplay, intimacy, and subtle detail.Jessica has developed a signature style marked by warm tones and a deep sensitivity to atmosphere. She finds great joy in traveling, using the experience of new places and cultures to inspire and inform her work

“The idea of living and creating within a community that values process as much as outcome resonates with how I approach my work: slowly, thoughtfully, with attention to detail and an openness to the unexpected. I’m particularly interested in how conversations across different mediums, text, movement, design can influence and evolve visual storytelling. At La Moissie, I would aim to both absorb and contribute to this cross-pollination of ideas, whether through informal studio visits, collaborative experiments, or shared meals and walks.”
