ARTIST’S PROFILE

Manuel Marsol (Madrid, 1984) has become in a few years an international reference for the illustrated album. Translated into eight languages, he has won the prestigious Bologna Children’s Book Fair International Illustration Prize, the Ibero-American Catalog Prize, the Amadora BD in Portugal or the Pépite Livre Illustré and Prix Sorcières in France.

With a degree in Advertising and Audiovisual Communication, he worked for three years as an advertising creative with awards in Cannes and San Sebastián, but left it to focus on illustration. He completed a postgraduate degree in Children’s Illustration at EINA in Barcelona, ​​and published his first book when he received the Edelvives Illustrated Album Award with Ahab and the White Whale (2014).

In Spain, most of his work has been published by Fulgencio Pimentel, with titles such as El tiempo del Gigante (2016), Yôkai (2017), Duelo al Sol (2018) or Mvsevm (2019). He has also illustrated novels such as La Metamorfosis de Kafka (Astro Rey 2015) or La Venus de las Pelles by Sacher-Masoch (Sixth Floor 2016); as well as covers for Anagrama, Babelia (El País), Libros del K.O or Barrett and album covers for Jonston and El Palacio de Linares.

He has also given talks, workshops or exhibitions in places such as the Caixa Forum (Madrid), Taipei Book Fair, BD à Bastia (France), La Feria Internacional del Libro (Guadalajara, Mexico), Fundação José Saramago (Lisbon) and the Almería Western Film Festival.
